Looking at getting (finally) a digital SLR. Specifically, the Nikon Df body. Hunting down a good used one on FleaBay. B&H still gets more for a used one than I want to commit. ...I've turned into a 'punter' like the ones who used to troll my camera store!

Have you tried one yet? Like rented one for a day as opposed to taking a couple shots in a store.

No, but the primary reason for the choice is the body will accept all my older optics, non-AI & AI included. I've got glass going back decades, would like to be able to use it rather than having to re-acquire as AF, AF-D/S glass. If I get re-enthused I may look into more up-to-date bodies & lenses.

My D610s work fine with my AI lenses. The only issue was my pre-AI 85mm 1.8, which I AI'd myself and now works well. The DF kinda baffles me. It has the D4 sensor, but is crippled in frame rate to slower than the D610. It uses a 610 processor. Some of the buttons look awkward to use. The front command wheel is vertical so it may need two fingers to adjust, I'd have to try it myself to see. Also be aware that it just comes with one focus screen (matt fresnel I believe). If you want split focus, you'll have either buy an aftermarket one from Taiwan, or try to make one like I did with an FM3 K3 screen.

Been looking more seriously into Greg's suggestion, the fact that the D610 will accept my glass is a big factor. Thanks, Greg, for that info!

LOL, I wasn't trying to sell you on the camera I bought. I seriously looked at the 750 too. I didn't want to drop that much money though since I knew I was going to get 2, switching one to IR. When I decided to get into digital, I picked up a 3200, a bottom of the line camera. It just didn't do what I wanted and I think with your experience, going low end will be disappointing. I think all the Nikons will take a manual AI'd lens. I just didn't want you to think you were limited to the DF.

I'll be looking into the various spec's for different models, too. But since you've already been through this "jungle", done a lot of the eval and used yours for a while now, your choice has weight with me. That I won't be trying to earn my living with 'em, the 610 is probably a reasonable choice.
I'm sure the "consumer-grade" ones like the 3200 would frustrate me at some point.
