We are planning a road trip through Yellowstone just before the eclipse then dropping south to the eclipse line. We have a hotel booked right on the line in Nebraska but if the weather isn't right we are prepared to go West or East to get clear skies.
I suspect if people wait too long, getting hotel rooms anywhere near the eclipse line will be difficult at best. Fortunately I have a sister we can stay with not too far from the line of totality.
